Google has withdrawn Chromecast, but this has only opened up new and cheaper alternatives on the Danish market.

After ten years on the market, it’s over for Google’s Chromecast.

Production was stopped in February 2025 and Chromecast is now officially phased out globally.

The decision is due to a strategic shift at Google to focus on more expensive devices with Google TV.

While Chromecast has been a popular solution for streaming content on TVs, the market has already embraced a new low-cost favorite.

One of the most notable is the Strong SRT-41 HDMI dongle, which has gained traction as an easy-to-use and affordable alternative.

Simple streaming solution at a low price

The Strong SRT-41 offers functionality similar to Chromecast with Google TV.

The device costs around 60 euro and is therefore among the cheapest on the market.

It comes with Android TV 11 and provides access to popular streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+, TV 2 Play and DRTV.

The user experience is centered around an included remote control with voice control, making it easy to navigate content.

The dongle supports 4K resolution, HDR10 and Dolby Atmos, putting it technologically ahead of older Chromecast models.

It is equipped with 2 GB RAM, 8 GB storage and an Amlogic A53 processor.

The device also supports dual-band Wi-Fi, ensuring a stable internet connection.

The Strong SRT-41 is particularly suitable for users who want a simple streaming experience without high costs.

This is especially true in holiday homes, while traveling or for secondary TV sets where a full-featured streaming box may seem unnecessary.

Changing market after the departure of Chromecast

Google’s decision to phase out Chromecast has led to a shift in the market.

Low-cost products with familiar functionality are in high demand, and the desire for ease of use and low price is driving sales.

Over the years, Chromecast has been a major player in streaming, but the trend now shows that new manufacturers are ready to take over with competitive alternatives.
