More details about next year’s top iPhone models have been leaked. New features include a hidden Face ID solution and a redesigned front camera.

A report mentioned by MacRumors indicates that Apple may make significant changes to the design of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

The source of the information is the American media outlet The Information.

It seems that Apple plans to move the Face ID sensors under the display, which will eliminate the so-called Dynamic Island cutout that has been a key part of the display design since the iPhone 14 Pro.

At the same time, it is mentioned that the front camera will be moved from the center to the top left corner of the screen.

No official confirmation from Apple has been released yet, but the report links to previous rumors and patents.

In January, it was reported that Apple had been granted a patent that makes it possible to integrate Face ID behind the screen by using subpixels to allow infrared light to pass through the panel.

It is not yet known if this technology is fully developed, but the new rumors point in that direction.

Improved photography with variable aperture

The iPhone 18 Pro details also include a possible improvement to the rear camera system.

It is expected that at least one camera will have a variable aperture, which could provide better control over background blur and lighting in different shooting conditions.

This is likely to be achieved through a mechanical aperture instead of the software-based solutions that have been used until now.

The improved background blur could potentially make portrait shots more lifelike and provide better results in low light.

The report does not contain any details about which camera sensors will be upgraded.

New chip structure and better performance

It is also mentioned that Apple will use a new chip, called the A20 Pro, which is expected to be manufactured using a 2nm manufacturing process.

The new chip will reportedly combine the CPU, GPU and Neural Engine into a single unit instead of placing them next to each other, as is the case in current models.

This change is expected to improve performance, battery life and heat management.

It could also provide more space in the device for other components, opening up new technical possibilities.

Apple is not expected to officially unveil the iPhone 18 Pro series until fall 2026. Until then, the news should be taken with caution, as it comes from as yet unconfirmed sources.
