Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus design leak shows just one minor change

Samsung’s next smartphone isn’t exactly revolutionary compared to its predecessor, but a little step forward is still a step forward.

Samsung is ready with its next generation of top models in the Galaxy series. Just like last year, there will be three versions: Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The South Korean manufacturer is sticking to the structure of the S25 series, although earlier rumors pointed in a different direction.

Several sources wrote in the spring that the base edition would be named Galaxy S26 Pro, while the Plus edition would be replaced by a new variant called Galaxy S26 Edge.

However, this will not be the case. According to BGR.com, Samsung changed course when it became clear that the previous Edge models could not keep up with sales of the Plus version.

This decision also meant that production of the Galaxy S26 Plus was delayed and the launch will not take place until February 25 in San Francisco.

The new Unpacked event is a couple of weeks later than expected, but the first images have now given a clear impression of what to expect from the phone’s appearance.

Same look – with one subtle change

The latest renders from OnLeaks and Android Headlines show that Samsung isn’t going for a big design break this time.

The Galaxy S26 Plus looks very similar to its predecessor, the S25 Plus, and what differences there are require a keen eye to spot.

The front still features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a small camera circle at the top and very narrow bezels all around.

The screen remains flat with slightly rounded corners, while the sides curve slightly towards the front for a more comfortable grip.

The most visible change is on the back, where the camera setup now is slightly raised.

The three lenses each have their own small elevation on top of this platform, but the overall placement is unchanged from last year.

Even the colours appear to remain conservative, although speculation is rife about an orange version reminiscent of Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro.

However, it’s still unclear whether Samsung will actually offer such a version. There are indications that it is merely a design choice in the leaked images.

Precision over big experiments

Samsung has previously shown that it prefers to refine rather than revolutionize.

The strategy is about making the experience more seamless from year to year, not change for the sake of change.

The Galaxy S26 Plus will have virtually the same dimensions as its predecessor at 158.4 x 75.7 x 7.35 millimeters, which means that the phone will still feel light in the hand without feeling fragile.

While Apple and other competitors are experimenting with new materials and color choices, Samsung is focusing on stability and quality this time around. It may not make headlines, but for many users it may be the very thing that makes the S26 Plus a safe upgrade.

With a price expected to be on par with the latest model, it will be interesting to see if Samsung’s small adjustments turn out to be the balance consumers are looking for.
