Fugt på ruderne om morgenen er et velkendt vinterproblem. Med en enkel ingrediens fra køkkenet kan du nemt reducere kondens – helt uden avancerede hjælpemidler.

Condensation and moisture on the inside of windows is a recurring problem for many, especially during the winter months.

It occurs when warm, humid air hits the cold glass surface.

The result is mist, water droplets, and in the worst cases, damage to window frames and walls.

Even modern double-glazed windows cannot always prevent the issue.

Rooms where humidity is often high, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms, are particularly vulnerable.

Everyday activities like cooking, bathing, and drying clothes increase the moisture in the air, which quickly settles as condensation on the inside of the windows.

But a simple trick using a common household ingredient can significantly reduce the familiar problem.

Table salt as a natural moisture absorber

The solution is ordinary salt.

Salt has a natural ability to attract moisture because it is hygroscopic.

This means it can absorb water vapor from the air before it has a chance to condense on the glass.

In this way, it can draw in the vapor and help protect window frames and walls from moisture damage.

How to do it:

  • Pour a generous amount of salt into a small bowl or open container.
  • Place the bowl or container on the windowsill in the rooms where condensation is most problematic.
  • Replace the salt every 2 to 7 days, depending on the humidity level in the room.

In this way, the salt acts as a natural moisture collector, gradually improving indoor air quality and reducing daily condensation on the windows.

Effective, inexpensive, and chemical-free

This trick requires no electricity, batteries, or expensive dehumidifiers.

It is a practical solution using ingredients most people already have in their kitchen.

Especially during colder periods when thorough ventilation is rare, this method can help keep humidity levels down and thereby reduce the risk of mold, discoloration, and damage to window frames and other furnishings.

For those experiencing daily moisture in the bedroom, salt on the windowsill can be a simple step toward a healthier and more comfortable indoor climate.
